A living platform for sound, culture, and community.

The Vision

In 1917, Sigmund Freud described three narcissistic wounds, moments that forced humanity to reconsider its place in the world. The cosmological wound: we are not the centre of the universe. The biological wound: we are not a separate creation but an animal among animals. The psychological wound: we are not masters in our own minds. Each insult demanded a rethinking of what it means to be human.

We are living through a fourth. The intelligence wound. Brought on by machines that can now create, reason, and generate, in the ways we assumed only we could. Deep Blue beating Kasparov at chess. AlphaGo beating Lee Sedol at Go. ChatGPT entering the world's vocabulary overnight. Beyond the provocation, each of these moments shares something: they force us to reconsider what creation, thought, and consciousness actually are.

And there is a strange gift buried in that challenge. By forcing the question, AI invites us to become more conscious of our own humanity, at the precise moment we are questioning it. Interface begins there. Not as a response to AI, and not as a rejection of it. As a space where humans encounter each other, live, in person, around work made by human hands, and where that question gets explored through the act of gathering. Because what we care about is not the answer. It is the quality of the encounter.

The Space

A room designed for encounter. Part cafe, part studio, part gallery, part broadcast station. Everything Interface does originates here.

A concept drawing, not an architectural specification. The adjacencies and proportions are intentional. The exact dimensions will follow once we find the right room.

Concept

Human Assembly

When AI can generate anything in isolation, the irreplaceable thing is people in proximity. Interface is built on the conviction that culture still happens in rooms, that the quality of the gathering determines the quality of what gets made. We create the conditions for encounters that don't have a format yet, and collaborations that don't have a category.

Rooted, Not Local

The most compelling creative production is specific, particular voices, particular places, particular ways of thinking about the world. Interface amplifies that specificity outward rather than flattening it for distribution. What travels is the depth, not the approximation.

Education & Transmission

AI is changing not just how art gets made, but how we think, communicate, and understand ourselves. Interface will be a laboratory for these questions, supporting artists and thinkers who work at the frontier between human and machine, and creating the conditions for that understanding to be built and passed on.

Process Over Product

The dominant platforms are optimised for the finished thing, the releasable thing, the thing that can be quantified. Interface is interested in what happens before that: the conversation, the experiment, the failure that becomes something else. The journey, not only the end result.

Live Experience

In a world where the line between human-made and machine-made art grows harder to trace, the live experience becomes one of the last guarantees. To witness something happening in a room, to share it with others, to feel it in real time, is a form of authentication. You know it was created by a human, for humans, in the presence of other humans.

A Living Community

Interface extends into a publication, a label, a conference, a curated network of people selected for their thinking and their work. Not brand extensions, the same logic applied to different surfaces. The same commitment to human-made culture, honest process, and the quality of the encounter.

What We Do

The Space

A room that came first. Part cafe, part studio, part gallery, the physical place where everything Interface does originates. Live performances, talks, and workshops. The place where the ideas that circulate online become a conversation you can actually have.

Broadcasting

A continuous transmission built on the residency model, artists, thinkers, and creators given full autonomy over a window of time. Not a playlist. A perspective. A voice that changes but stays recognizably Interface.

Editorial

Long-form writing, interviews, and serious criticism that treats art and culture as things worth thinking about carefully. A publication with a genuine point of view on what it means to create in the age of intelligent machines.

Events & Programming

Curated gatherings, keynote talks, live performances, exhibitions, and cross-disciplinary forums that bring the community together around the questions Interface was built to ask. Including, eventually, a conference of our own.

The Space

The physical location is not supplementary to anything. It is the primary thing. Interface begins in a room, a place where people sit across from each other, where the broadcast has a room it comes from, where the ideas that circulate as sound and text become a conversation you can actually have.

The space is the argument made tangible. Not a venue, not an activation, a home for the kind of gathering that offers a guarantee: that what you are witnessing was made by a human, performed by a human, shared between humans. That the connection is real. A cafe because it is accessible. A studio because it is serious. A gallery because the things being made here are worth looking at.

Where We're Going

  1. Establish Interface's identity through the curation of thoughtful art, live programming, and keynote conversations that reflect the questions we care about.
  2. Build a community of people selected for their perspective and their work at the frontier of human creativity and machine intelligence.
  3. Become a serious reference for thinking on how AI is reshaping culture, creativity, and social life, through editorial, commissioned work, and public events.
  4. Support creative initiatives from within that community: artists, researchers, educators, and builders navigating that frontier honestly.
  5. Open new Interface spaces in the cities where culture, technology, and human creativity converge.
  6. Build toward Interface's own conference on AI and societal change: a gathering where the questions get asked out loud, together, in a room.

Brand Partnerships

Interface works with brands and institutions asking the same questions we are, about what happens to culture, creativity, and human connection as AI accelerates. Not sponsorships. The partnerships that interest us are the ones where both sides are genuinely working something out.
